Road Closures & Parking: The Township will close Inglis Street from Northumberland Street to Willison Street from 3:00-7:00 p.m. to ensure pedestrian safety. Residents of Ayr are encouraged to walk to this event. Parking is not available at the event. Parking is available downtown Ayr and in municipal lots (Gibson Street and Church Street). Parking will also be permitted on one side only on Thompson, Elliot, Colquhoun and Willison Streets and on one side of Cooper Street from Willison Street to Upton Court. (Temporary no parking signs will be placed during the day) Vehicles parked illegally will be ticketed or towed. The Township will have three barrier-free parking spots for those with an Accessible Parking Permit issued by the Ministry of Transportation. Please contact Michelle Poissant at mpoissant@northdumfries.ca to reserve a spot.
Traffic Control: There will be officers from Waterloo Regional Police Services assisting with traffic and crowd control before, during and after the event. Expect delays in the area due to the volume of traffic and please watch for pedestrians.
Food Bank Donations: Neighbours Helping Neighbours will be at the event accepting voluntary donations of cash, gift cards and non-perishable food items to support those in need in North Dumfries this holiday season and throughout the year.
Other Information:Hitched Coffee and Schmuck Truck will be onsite for all your snack and beverage needs! Please note the viewing area for the Holiday Train is a grassy area adjacent to the train tracks. You can also view the train from Inglis Street and the sidewalk along Inglis Street. This area is very dark, but we will have a fire truck with lights nearby. If family members get lost or separated from one another, please make the fire truck your central meeting spot. It will be parked on Inglis Street within the viewing area. There will be porta-potties onsite.
